From California, Kentucky, and Texas, Alex Chand is currently an MFA student in poetry at the University of Mississippi. The recipient of a Fulbright grant, she is also finishing her dissertation for an MA in English Literature at the University of Leeds. She is an alumna of Barbican Young Poets. Most recently, Alex competed in UniSlam UK on the University of Leeds team in 2023, finishing second, and was named a finalist for the William S. Robe Playwriting Residency. Chand holds a BA from Lawrence University in physics and English, where she was awarded the Diderrich Prize in Creative Writing and earned summa cum laude honors for her thesis, Charting Autistic Voices.
